Back to School

Today was the official first day of school! We can't believe how quickly summer came and gone- and although it went by fast, the Waspettes definitely didn't waste any time. Aside from three hour practices every morning (little break in July), we went to camp, performed at Stadium of Fire, danced in the fair days parade, learned competition routines, built up muscles in cross fit, hiked Timp, and had lots of bonding team time! The team is excited to start showing off all their hard work.
Make sure to come out and support your Waspettes at their upcoming performances,
you don't want to miss this exciting season!

Waspettes Take Timp

On Friday, the Waspettes ventured out in their own backyard to conquer the 11,752 ft Timpanogos mountain. With 26 waspettes, 4 coaches, 2 husbands, 2 dads, 1 mom, and 1 brother, they began hiking at 5:00 AM and reached the summit within 6 hours. The Waspette team accomplished the feat of hiking up and down Timp in a total of 11 and a 1/2 hours. This was the Waspettes' third season hiking the mountain. The girls love the challenge and are amazed by what they are able to accomplish. The hike is a great bonding experience proving these girls are ready to work hard. This year's team motto is "accept the challenge" and that is exactly what the girls did. The coaches and parents are proud of the Waspettes and look forward to an exhilarating season.

The Waspettes Are On Fire

The fireworks weren’t the only thing on fire at Stadium of Fire this past weekend! The Waspettes celebrated the 4th of July this year by performing at the event. They were given the opportunity to dance with over 400 dancers from Utah, Arizona, and Idaho. To prepare for the show the Waspettes had to endure 3 days of intense outdoor practices that started in the early morning and went until late in the night. The theme of the show was Women in World War II and the headline performer was Journey. Prior to these practices the girls learned two full-length routines. The first routine was a Rosie the Riveter piece and the second was a Rock N’ Roll mix, where the girls wore computerized wristbands that changed colors while they danced, which required a lot of precision with their arm movements. During the 3 days of rehearsals they learned a third routine and performed this piece with the group EepyBird, who did a Bellagio Fountain routine with Diet Coke and Mentos. The Waspettes and coaches would like to thank their parents for volunteering to spray the girls down and keep them hydrated.

The week prior to Stadium of Fire the girls attended Precision Dance Camp at UVU. Here they enjoyed 3 days of learning routines, perfecting their technique, and performing. During the Display of Dance night the girls performed their competition Hip Hop routine where they received the Performance Night Champions award. The Waspette season is starting off very strong and we are looking forward to what the rest of the season will bring.
