The fireworks weren’t the only thing on fire at Stadium of Fire this past weekend! The Waspettes celebrated the 4th of July this year by performing at the event. They were given the opportunity to dance with over 400 dancers from Utah, Arizona, and Idaho. To prepare for the show the Waspettes had to endure 3 days of intense outdoor practices that started in the early morning and went until late in the night. The theme of the show was Women in World War II and the headline performer was Journey. Prior to these practices the girls learned two full-length routines. The first routine was a Rosie the Riveter piece and the second was a Rock N’ Roll mix, where the girls wore computerized wristbands that changed colors while they danced, which required a lot of precision with their arm movements. During the 3 days of rehearsals they learned a third routine and performed this piece with the group EepyBird, who did a Bellagio Fountain routine with Diet Coke and Mentos. The Waspettes and coaches would like to thank their parents for volunteering to spray the girls down and keep them hydrated.
