Day Uniform Alterations

This year we were able to get a fantastic deal on our day uniform dresses. We are super excited and think that everyone will look great. The sizes are a little big on some of the girls, and we want to make sure that our whole team looks their very best, so we are turning the alterations process over to each girl individually. Your dancer will receive their dress today (Wednesday) and will be responsible for having them altered by Monday, August 1st.

Many of the girls will only need a hem up at the bottom, but others will need more extensive alterations. To help with the cost, we will knock $25 off of your dues. Your next payment, due on July 14th, will now be for $175.

When altering the dress, here are a couple rules to follow:

  • The length of the dress should be just above the knee, no shorter than two finger widths above the knee cap. Please make sure that it is not too short, but that it does hit right above the knee.
  • Pay close attention to the arm pit area - please make sure it is tight to the skin.
Each girl will try on their dress in August to get their alterations passed off. If you have questions about specific alterations, please give us a call or leave a comment in the comment section below.

Thanks!

Practice

Week 2
Hey girls,
The second week of practice was AWESOME! Everyone stayed so positive and kept great energy and attitudes. This week we learned our first football routine! It was so much fun and everyone was so respectful to our drill mistresses. Maddie and Deidra did such a good job teaching everyone the dance. They were so professional and worked so well together. Thank you Maddie and Deidra! We love you. Also all the officers wanna say once again thank you so much team for being so good and working hard. While the drill mistresses taught we were so respectful and didnt talk while they were teaching and raised our hands to ask questions. It was great. Girls keep up the good work. Everyday our team gets stronger i cant wait for the rest of the year!

Camp and Other Goodies

Camp is coming up! Wahoooooooo! Camp is the greatest because it gives our team time to work hard together, learn new dances, and create unity! I can't wait to see the amazing things that you will do next week! I'm sure you have several questions, so here is everything you need to know about camp:

  • Wednesday, June 21: PDC waivers due. You cannot participate in camp without them!
  • Thursday,  June 22: Practice as normal and then sister team time. Take this chance to help your little sister feel confident and ready for camp.
 Camp Packing List: Bring (everyday)
  1.  Pair of gore boots (black if wearing long pants, beige if wearing shorts).
  2. Hair must be SECURELY fastened up BEFORE you arrive!
  3. Water bottle - you get WAY more water this way then waiting at the drinking fountain, and it takes less time! This is mandatory - so bring one!
  4. Camera - I'll snap pictures for you if you want.
  5. Snacks - lunch will be provided everyday, but you may want some snacks, too!
  6. Your daily requirements - so below!

Make sure you are keeping yourself healthy and strong during camp week. ALWAYS eat breakfast, drink plenty of water, and get at least 8 hours of sleep! You can only dance as strong as your body is!

Please let me know if you have any questions! I can't wait!

Practice

WEEK 1
Hey girls,
We made it through the first week of practice and even though it was hard we all did great. We are all so hard working and determined. This week we conditioned and practiced alot of technique and did across the floor. Everyday we all went in with a great attitude no matter how sore or tired we were. All the coaches and officers think this is gonna be a great year because we can already feel the great energy and dedication this team has to take it to the top. Keep up the great energy and attitudes and keep working hard!

Updated Schedule - Add to your calendar!

Parents - I hope that each of your girls brought home a calendar for the summer as well as all of the Home football and basketball games! If you did not get a schedule, you may look under the "Calendar" tab or have your daughter ask Erica for one! I have a couple of changes/dates for you to add to your calendar and plan on:

August 8-11: We will be having our Character Choreographer here, plus we will also be learning our Jazz routine. Please plan on your dancer being gone from 12:00-5:00 on each of those days. I know that it is different from our normal schedule, but we need to work around gym availability and choreographer's schedules. This should be plenty of time to change work schedules, etc.

We will be getting pictures through Hazens this year. Please add the following dates to your schedule:
Sept. 20 - Details Meeting 2:45 in Library
Sept 27 - Pictures at 3:00 in Cafeteria
Oct 4th - Portrait Proofing at 3:00 in Library

Thanks and have a great weekend!

al la secondes

This week we have been working a lot on our al la seconde turns during practice. Here is a great blog post the coach from Stansbury High School put together to help you practice your turns at home. Read through it and then practice your hearts out! You will need to be able to do at least a clean set of 8 in order to be in our Jazz routine this year.

While checking out that post, feel free to browse around the rest of her blog to see what another 3A drill team is doing!

P.S. Isn't their blog great? I would love our blog to be just as useful. She has three different people posting to the blog, and it really helps. Please, please, please let me know if you would be interested in being an author on our blog!
