Waspette Spectacular

Two weeks ago we held the Waspette Spectacular and Mini Waspettes clinic. It is a huge fundraiser for the team and a fun way to bring the community together and learn more about drill team. The Waspettes held three two hour class sessions where they trained girls (ages 3-13) on proper dance technique and taught a routine. We had a tremendous turn out this year with over 200 girls (60 of whom were 3 & 4 years old!)

That Friday night, the Mini Waspettes were able to perform their routines at the Waspette Spectacular. The Waspette Spectacular showcased all the Waspette routines from the year. The drill team performed their Hip Hop, Camp, Military, Dance, and Character routines. There were also guest performances by local dance studios in town. The Waspette Spectacular is a fun way for the girls to end the season and show off all their hard work from over the year. We had a fabulous season and want to thank everyone for their support!

al la secondes

This week we have been working a lot on our al la seconde turns during practice. Here is a great blog post the coach from Stansbury High School put together to help you practice your turns at home. Read through it and then practice your hearts out! You will need to be able to do at least a clean set of 8 in order to be in our Jazz routine this year.

While checking out that post, feel free to browse around the rest of her blog to see what another 3A drill team is doing!

P.S. Isn't their blog great? I would love our blog to be just as useful. She has three different people posting to the blog, and it really helps. Please, please, please let me know if you would be interested in being an author on our blog!
