Football, Bowling, and other Goodies!

Hey there! First off, it was fun to see many of the parents at the Hazens photo shoot! Public shout out to Catherine's mom Cheryl for feeding the girls - the pizza was much appreciated! Now, on to other goodies:

Good News! There will be tons of room on the cheer bus tomorrow for the football game! The cheerleaders have invited the drill team to attend. If you would like to go, you can earn a MERIT for wearing your LOVE shirt and jacket, riding the bus, sitting in the stands together, AND cheering with the cheerleaders! The bus will leave at 5:00 and be back around 11:00. I would really love as many girls as possible to go and support our groups!

The Bowling Tournament is this weekend! Your girls (and you) have been assigned a shift. You can check these shifts here . Girls, please wear your jeans, LOVE shirts, and jackets. Thanks ahead of time for your help!

Finally, it looks like we will not be attending Nationals this year. Underclassmen - please plan ahead because I would LOVE to go next year! :)

Also, I just want to give a big thank you to all of the girls for working so hard on Military! You guys rock my socks off!

Weekend Schedule

Friday- To school make sure you wear your black long sleeve waspette shirt with jeans. Any type of shoes except your converse!
Game- We will be wearing our biker shorts,tights, black long sleeve shirt, converse, and our sweat or your letterman jacket. Be there at 6:15 sharp with make up and hair done. HAIR will be in side pony. Part on the left and pony on the right. Slicked back.
Saturday- We have practice from 8-1 and we will be learning lyrical and trying out for it. Bring lunch so we can eat there.

Smaller Nationals Package now an option!

Parents and Waspettes,

I know that money is tight any many of your are concerned about the cost of the original Nationals proposal I sent home. I have been working with our travel company and have come up with a second, smaller Nationals package that I think sacrifices very little from the original one. PLUS, it would only cost $490 each (plus airfare and food). This INCLUDES the cost of the competition and spectator admission! Changes are below:

• Now leave Thursday morning (March 29) instead of Wednesday night. We still spend Thursday at Disneyland.
• No longer includes any meals or meal vouchers.
• A slightly cheaper hotel (The Red Lion).

This means that your package would still include:

• Charter bus to and from the airport.
• 3 night hotel stay
• 2 day Disneyland tickets
• Exclusive USA Disney party tickets (They close California Adventure for this party!)

And here are the prices:

• Quad Occupancy - $490 each plus airfare
• Triple Occupancy - $540 each plus airfare
• Double Occupancy - $625 each plus airfare
• Single Occupancy - $875 each plus airfare

This option saves you over $100 and I think is definitely worth it. I really do believe that Nationals is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the girls, and I hope you will consider this new package.

Nationals commitment forms and $50 deposit are due tomorrow, Friday Sept 16. On the form, please indicate if you are interested in the original package or the new package. If you are worried about getting the deposit in tomorrow or you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call.

Important Reminders about Upcoming Events!

Hey Waspettes family! I can't believe how fast the year is flying! Our first competition in December doesn't seem that far away! Here are a couple reminders about upcoming events:

• This Tuesday, Sept 13. 
• Mandatory Hazens information meeting at 2:45 pm in the Lecture Hall. You will get all the info you need about Hazens, plus I would like to take some time to answer any questions you may have about Nationals, the bowling tournament, or parent apparel.
• Friday, Sept 16.
• Nationals commitment form due with $50 deposit per person. I am really looking forward to this awesome event. Know that we are trying to look at fundraising options to help with the cost. Also, we can take away one night stay and/or one day at disney if we need to lower the cost. Please consider the event!
• Home football game at 7:00 pm. Details to come.
• Saturday, Sept 17.
• Choreography Clinic - Lyrical! 8 am to 1 pm in the Nest.
• Tuesday, Sept 20
• Hazens photo shoot after school!
• Friday, Sept 23
• Pocket Calendar money due. Each girl was assigned 5 calendars to sell ($5 each). If you would like to sell extra to help with your individual costs, let me know!
• Saturday, Sept 24
• Bowling Tournament! Know that we will also need parent help!
• Wednesday, Sept 28
• Midterm already! Make sure that your grades are up so you stay eligible.

I see several parents at every half-time, I know that you have been working your tails off for our fundraisers, and some of you have even brought breakfast to the locker room for our girls! I am thrilled to announce our 2011-2012 United Spirit Association National Competition opportunity! USA is a very reputable company who has been organizing national drill/dance and cheerleading competitions, camps, and travel events for over 60 years. Below you will find information and restrictions regarding this event. Please read through it carefully and then return the attached information sheet to me before Wednesday, Sept 14^th.

2011-2012 USA Nationals Itinerary:

Wednesday March 28, 2012     

Evening- Salt Lake City International Airport – (SLC) You’ll travel from Salt Lake City, UT to Los Angeles, CA aboard a regular scheduled airline. Flights are currently not confirmed and will be booked after Adventures America has received a confirmation and deposit from your group.  Your trip price does not include the cost of round trip air at this time. Once all passengers and their luggage is accounted for we will transfer your group and luggage aboard a charter bus to your hotel.

Dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company-GardenWalk

Your meal will include, Unlimited Soft Drinks, Bubba’s Spinach Far Out Dip - with tortilla chips, Served family style. Both Students and Chaperones will receive the following:

a.      Round Trip Coach Airfare

Round Trip Airline flights are currently not included in your package price but will be added once you have confirmed your space with us and we have confirmed space for you on the airline.  Flight times are subject to change and are based on availability.

b.      Deluxe Motor Coach Transportation

Complete with reclining seats and air-conditioning and large baggage bays for storing luggage and equipment. Transportation will be provided to and from the airport to hotel.

c.       Four Night Accommodations at First Class Orange County Hotel

d.      Meals –1 Dinner-Inclusive of Tax and gratuity at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company.

e.       Two Day Park Hopper for Disneyland and California Adventure Theme Park

f.       2-$20.00 Disney meal vouchers for use inside the parks

Land Package Cost

Cost per dancer or guest will vary depending upon the number of confirmed participants and/or rooming requests and needs.

$615.00 quadruple occupancy (Four people per room)

$679.00 triple occupancy (Three people per room)

$819.00 double occupancy (Two people per room)

$1219.00 single occupancy (One person per room)

Please note that this cost currently does NOT include the cost of the round trip airline ticket between Salt Lake City, UT and Southern CA.  This cost will be added to your package once you have confirmed your trip with Adventures America.

Expenses not included

·         Airfare

·         Meals outside of the 1 dinner and 2 $20 Disney meal vouchers

Restrictions

·         In order to travel to Nationals, we must have 80% of the dancers attend (17-18 girls).

·         We need at least one other chaperone (25 and older).

·         The prices are conditional on a minimum of 32 paid participants.

·         The prices are subject to change based on the number of participants. We will do our best to put four girls per room. The additional cost of a non-quad occupancy room for Waspette dancers only will be distributed among all the dancers and will not be the responsibility of that dancer.

A final payment schedule will be made once the registration has been completed. Right now the payment schedule stands as:

$50 deposit due Sept 16^th

$200 due Oct 19^th

$200 due Nov 21^st

$200 due Jan 20^th

Balance due Feb 22^nd

This information packet and a registration confirmation sheet will be sent home with your dancer! Yay for nationals!

Friday Football and Saturday Parade!

First off, thanks girls for the Positive Day today - it made my whole day brighter, and my arms a little sore from the push-ups. :)

Please wear to school on Friday:

• Warm-up pants and jacket
• White t-shirt and cami underneath (remember that if you get hot and take off your jacket, your shirt needs to be appropriate!)
• Waspette converses. Please spray these ahead of time with canvas protectors and be careful with them!

For the Football game:

• Meet in the stadium at 6:15 with your hair and make-up DONE.
• Wear: 
• body tights, 
• black knee highs, 
• black long pants, 
• white bra (I noticed some different colors at the assembly, please wear white or tan only!), 
• white cami, 
• white LOVE shirt,
• warm-up pants and jacket
• Make-up should be as you were taught for performances (dark)
• Hair: center poof, tight pony tail (elastic the same color as your hair), curly or straight. We will wear our hair up for the whole game except for half-time.
• Come ready to have fun and cheer!
• Parents, we would love for you to sit together and create a Waspette cheering section! We invite you to sit directly South of our block or behind us in the stands!

Saturday Parade:

• Meet at 9:00 at Midway Elementary (more specifics to come)
• Wear:
• tights
• black dance pants
• pink glitter tank - safety pin the neck!
• No showing bra straps or sports bras
• Your own white tennis shoes
• Hair in a slicked low pony, part above the heart (left)
• Light make-up in our colors.
