Waspette Spectacular

Two weeks ago we held the Waspette Spectacular and Mini Waspettes clinic. It is a huge fundraiser for the team and a fun way to bring the community together and learn more about drill team. The Waspettes held three two hour class sessions where they trained girls (ages 3-13) on proper dance technique and taught a routine. We had a tremendous turn out this year with over 200 girls (60 of whom were 3 & 4 years old!)

That Friday night, the Mini Waspettes were able to perform their routines at the Waspette Spectacular. The Waspette Spectacular showcased all the Waspette routines from the year. The drill team performed their Hip Hop, Camp, Military, Dance, and Character routines. There were also guest performances by local dance studios in town. The Waspette Spectacular is a fun way for the girls to end the season and show off all their hard work from over the year. We had a fabulous season and want to thank everyone for their support!

Team Photos

Check out our team photos! It was quite the ordeal with weather complications causing us to do our photo shoot on two different days, but they turned out great! It was fun to have the photos taken in our hometown, including our WHS football stadium!

P.S. Don't miss your last chance to watch these girls perform! The Waspette Spectacular is TODAY in the high school's main gym at 7:00 PM. They will be performing all their competition routines as well as camp dance. Come support your Waspettes!

Chill Co

At the last home basketball game the drill team seniors, dance company seniors, and cheer seniors performed together at halftime. It was an awesome performance choreographed by the girls. The basketball team boosters even gave all the girls flowers to thank them for their support.

The seniors still have a couple more performance before the season ends, so don't miss them! On Monday, Feb. 28th at 7:30 PM the boys basketball team will play in round 1 of the state championship at Weber State. The Waspettes will be performing at half time.

The performance you most definitely do not want to miss is The Waspette Spectacular on Friday, March 11th. This is a huge fundraiser for the girls as they host the Mini Waspette clinic as well as showcase all their routines from the season.

Competition Season

After great success in our first invitational at UVU, the Waspettes went on to compete in two more invitationals. At The Falcon Classic the girls delivered amazing performances bringing home a 3rd place trophy in Hip Hop and placing 5th overall. Emily Gabler won 3rd place in the 4A drill down and Rachael Hales took 5th in her solo routine.

At the Bountiful Invitational the Waspettes killed it placing 2nd in Hip Hop, 3rd in Military, and 4th in Character. Emily Gabler represented Wasatch well taking 1st in the 4A drill down.

Region took place on January 28th at Salem Hills High School. The day before, the team relaxed and visualized with a yoga class. The awesome Waspette moms then made Hawaiian hay stacks for lunch and performed their very own version of Uh-say. Even with the time crunch of a fast paced competition, the girls blew everyone away with their performances taking 4th at region and 3rd in Hip Hop. This meant the Waspettes could go to state! Even more impressive was that our outstanding seniors all received Academic All Region, and Marion received the hero award.

This year, the Utah High School Athletics Association changed the format of the state competition for drill team. In our region, the top 5 schools move on to state semi-finals. There, based on our region rankings, we were placed into different pods. The Waspettes were put into Pod 3 with other 4A schools; Murray, Box Elder, and Corner Canyon. Our first routine wan't until 3:00 PM, but the Waspettes went down early anyways and watched some of the other schools compete. After eating lunch, the girls became focused and got ready to perform. The Waspettes crushed military, best its ever been! They then performed their sassy Ex's and Oh's dance routine, and finished with their intense siren character dance. The top two placing teams in each pod moves on to state finals. Unfortunately the Waspettes didn't move on to finals this year, but they most definitely excelled way beyond exceptions over the course of this season. Our captain, Meagan, also received Academic All State.
