Deidra

The Waspette of the week is Deidra!
She is a senior member of the drill team and is the Jr. Drill Mistress.
Deidra  does a great job leading the girls through warm-ups every morning.

Deidra shows up every morning for practice despite her medical challenges.  She is an inspiration to her teammates and coaches, and is a excellent example of endurance and hard work!

After high school Deidra plans on heading off to SUU for college to earn her degree in nutrition.  Nutrition is a big part of her life and her favorite thing to eat is Spaghetti and cheesecake.  Everything Deidra eats must be gluten free, so if you plan on surprising her with a treat... make sure to read the label.   Her candy bar of choice (which happens to be gluten free) is a Reeses.  If given a free day, and the ability to eat whatever she wanted to... Deidra would eat homemade cookies all day long.
She also has a weekly tradition of making margaritas on Mondays.
When she is not whipping up culinary masterpieces she is playing them on the piano.
Her favorite song to play is "God bless the broken road,"

Something you might not know about Deidra is the fact that she was named after a soap opera star.  If you are familiar with Days of Our Lives, the actress who plays Marlena is named Deidra.
Another thing you might not know about her is that when she was younger she wanted to be an actress on a soap opera.   She got her first acting gig in 3rd grade when she played the role of Ariel.  During the song "kiss the girl" she fell from a chair that was sitting on top of a table.  She went upside down and her dress followed suite.  She was traumatized then, but gets a good laugh about it now.

Deidra is one part dancer and one part baseball fan.  She is the SF Giants lucky charm because she was at the world series game when they won.  If you speak MLB (major league baseball) Deidra is ready to chat!  Her favorite player is Buster Posey aka "Rosey Posey." Go Giants!

Deidra's parents are her heroes.  She said her parents encourage her to have a positive attitude no matter what.  Deidra does a great job living this way and she brings it out in others!

If she could travel anywhere she would go to Italy... no wait, Germany... no wait, Austria... no wait, followed by a few other places. :-)  Luckily for Deidra she already drives her dream car, but really really wants a blendtec for Christmas.
She needs one for college and hopes that Santa will get her letter :-)

The thing she loves the most about Drill Team is getting to dance everyday with people she enjoys being around and that share her passion.
Her advice for the team is,
"arrogance is about proving yourself while confidence is about improving yourself."

Deidra, we love love love having you on the team!  You are such a wonderful dancer and a beautiful girl inside and out!  Thanks for being a Waspette!
