What an awesome welcome back to the school year! You guys were fantastic parade, and I know that the tribute to alumni was appreciated. We also learned a FANTASTIC character routine today that will rock at competition!

A few reminders:

Also:
  • If you still have your parade uniform, it is due back asap - demerits per day late!
  • Parents, your dancer should have received an information packet about our upcoming bowling fundraiser. This is a mandatory fundraiser that really requires everyone's help. I'll post more about this later.
Upcoming important calendar dates:

  • August 19th - First Football half time
  • Sept 13th - Hazen's detail meeting at 2:45 in the library

Thanks! I can't wait to see you all dance tomorrow!

Fair Days Parade Information

Alright, in case you haven't heard yet here are the details for the parade. We are #32 in the parade, which is right behind the cheerleaders, who are behind the band. We will be meeting at 4:00 p.m., in front of J.R. Smith.

Check-list for prior to the parade:
  • Make-up should be natural looking, but darker than normal. Wear base AND powder. Come without any lipstick, unless you already have last year's color. Eyelashes are optional.
  • Hair is SLICKED, parted on the left, and in a low pony tail.
  • Make sure you have every piece of your costume on as you come to meet for the parade.
  • Everyone needs to wear tights and some kind of mostly white sneaker.
  • Drink a lot of water all day.
  • Go to the bathroom before you come.
  • As Maddie suggests, take some ibuprofen.
  • NO underwear!
Check-list for during the parade:
  • Perform the whole time.
  • Don't show anyone how tired you are.
  • Walk on your toes.
  • Be light on your feet, so we don't hear the shoe scrape.
See you there!

Practice Monday!

I hope that you all had a fantastic break and are ready to get started again! Practice will begin Monday at 6:00 a.m. in the Nest. Please remember to bring your altered day uniform to get checked. Also, don't forget to wear your correct practice outfit! We will be using this week to prepare for our first two performances as well as the Fair Days Parade (Saturday, August 6th).

I will be out of town next week for a conference. Please refer all questions/e-mails/phone calls to Jordan.

Also, know that the Commons will be waxed next week, so the main area of the school will be closed the entire week. Please do not plan on going anywhere besides the Nest.

Thanks!

Summer Reminders/Sentsy Clarification

Hope you are all having a fantastic summer! I just wanted to remind you about some upcoming events so that you can put them in your calendar!

  • July 11-14: Practice 6-9 in the Cafeteria (weird, I know).
    • July 15: $175 due. Sentsy profit can go towards this.
    • I will be giving each of your dancers a payment printout on Tuesday to show what they have paid already and what they owe.
  • Aug 1-4: Practice 6-9 in the Nest.
    • Aug 1: Day Uniform Alterations Due - bring your dress to practice.
  • Aug 8-11: Choreography Boot Camp!
    • Practice 12-5 in the Nest.
    • We will be learning Character and Dance, plus cleaning for our first performances!
  • Aug 15-19: Practice 6-9 in the Nest
    • Thursday, August 18th: Cheer/Drill Party at 9:00 am! We will be sharing cheers and eating yummy food. More info to come.
    • Friday, August 19th: We may have practice, depending on how prepared we are for football.
    • Friday, August 19th: First football half-time! We will be performing Black and Gold.
Upcoming fundraisers:

I know that the fundraisers have been last minute so far - that's what comes with getting a new coach! We appreciate your patience and look forward to being more organized in the future!
  • Sentsy:
    • Hopefully you already have your information for this one. This fundraiser IS optional, and any money you earn will go towards your $175 payment due in July. Please ignore the demerits text/call - I forgot that it was optional and just made a mistake. Sorry!
    • Your Sentsy orders/money will be due Thursday, July 11.
  • Pocket Calendars:
    • We will be selling pocket calendars at each school's Back to School/Registration day. Each girl will be assigned a school/shift to sell the calendars - this part of the fundraiser is mandatory and profit will be split equally among the girls. If you would like to sell more calendars on your own time, this is optional and the profit would go towards your individual dues.
  • Bowling Tournament:
    • This year's tournament will be on Saturday, September 24th (means our choreography clinic will be moved to Sept 10). This fundraiser is mandatory - it has to be in order to be successful. We are hoping that this is where the majority of the remaining $600 per girl booster fee will come. More info to come!
  • Pastry fundraiser:
    • We do have the option of doing one more optional fundraiser - which means the profit you sell would go directly towards your dues. This one gives a 40% return (larger than Sentsy). We are happy to put this one together if parents want, but we don't want to waste our time if you are not interested. We will have the girls vote during practice next week - please let them know if you have a preference.
Whew! That was a lot of information! Thanks for your hard work! See you on Monday!
